Senior Director, Applied AI - Hybrid (Acton, MA)

Lead Insulet’s enterprise applied AI strategy and investment portfolio. Drive responsible AI adoption across patient engagement, commercial, digital, and operational functions in a diabetes medical-device company.

Description

  • Own a five-year-plus enterprise vision, strategy, capability roadmap, and investment portfolio for applied AI
  • Set priorities for AI initiatives spanning patient engagement, customer service, sales operations, marketing, provider engagement, market access, digital products, operations, and enterprise productivity
  • Convert enterprise business challenges into AI opportunities, investment theses, product portfolios, experiments, MVPs, and scalable capabilities
  • Present AI strategy, portfolio decisions, investment proposals, realized value, and risk assessments to the CTO, executive leadership team, and senior business stakeholders
  • Develop portfolio-level business cases and outcome metrics in partnership with Finance and business executives
  • Guide applied AI products and capabilities from discovery and prioritization through launch, adoption, and lifecycle management
  • Define product operating practices, decision rights, roadmaps, funding priorities, and governance structures
  • Expand reusable AI capabilities such as recommendations, segmentation, forecasting, copilots, AI agents, and workflow automation
  • Embed AI into CRM and service platforms, field tools, dashboards, digital experiences, and everyday business operations
  • Direct responsible AI delivery, including governance, risk evaluation, human oversight, auditability, output validation, content safety, escalation, and accountability
  • Build and develop a layered organization spanning product, data science, AI engineering, analytics, and cross-functional delivery
  • Establish the operating model, organizational capabilities, talent strategy, workforce plan, and leadership structure
  • Shape enterprise business and technology strategy through executive and cross-functional influence
  • Lead change and adoption programs that integrate AI into workflows, leadership practices, capability development, and decision-making

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, analytics, business, or a related discipline
  • At least 18 years of progressively senior experience leading enterprise data, analytics, AI, digital, or technology organizations
  • Demonstrated success managing leaders and multidisciplinary teams
  • Track record of setting multiyear enterprise strategy, managing complex portfolios and investments, and producing measurable outcomes across functions
  • Deep knowledge of applied AI, machine learning, generative AI, large language models, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation, copilots, predictive modeling, and workflow automation
  • Ability to influence executives and communicate strategy, investment decisions, value, and risk with CTO- and executive-leadership audiences
  • Preferred: background in healthcare, medical devices, life sciences, diabetes care, digital health, or another regulated sector
  • Preferred: experience scaling AI agents, customer-service copilots, commercial recommendation systems, patient-engagement intelligence, or comparable enterprise AI products
  • Preferred: knowledge of data governance, master data management, customer, provider, patient, and commercial data, plus enterprise analytics
  • Preferred: familiarity with Salesforce, ServiceNow, Genesys, AWS, Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, or comparable enterprise technology platforms
