Senior Data Reliability Engineer – Boston (Hybrid)

Senior data engineer responsible for Java-based data platforms, pipelines, reporting infrastructure, and deployment automation at Alegeus. The role focuses on improving reliability and scalability across distributed systems supporting fintech and healthtech operations.

Description

  • Architect and develop scalable data pipelines that capture, refresh, validate, and reconcile information across distributed systems
  • Create Java-based microservices and APIs that support data movement, comparison workflows, and core platform functionality
  • Develop a unified self-service reporting platform
  • Transition existing reporting solutions to a modern, scalable environment
  • Collaborate with engineering, analytics, and business teams on data solutions for dashboards, insights, and operational decisions
  • Investigate and resolve complex data and pipeline problems
  • Enhance system performance, resilience, and scalability
  • Support cloud-native infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation for the Data Analytics Platform

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to design and support distributed data platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to build scalable backend services
  • Demonstrated ability to develop complex SQL solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot data quality issues
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver reliable, high-performing solutions within a microservices architecture
  • At least 5 years of software engineering experience
  • Expert-level knowledge of Java, Spring, Kafka, SQL, and Spark
  • Experience developing scalable microservices, REST APIs, and data processing platforms
  • Experience with Snowflake
  • Experience working with distributed systems
  • Experience developing data validation and reconciliation frameworks
  • Experience with CI/CD, Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
