Senior Automotive Firmware Engineer

Investigate automotive ECU failures in embedded firmware and electronics products. Analyze warranty returns and field issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to improve product reliability.

Description

  • Investigate reported issues in automotive ECUs
  • Identify root causes of firmware and embedded software failures
  • Help improve product reliability
  • Analyze issues reported from vehicles in the field and warranty-returned units (RMA)
  • Use debugging, log analysis, code review, and software diagnostic tools
  • Examine execution traces, system events, memory, vehicle communications, and firmware versions
  • Determine the causes of ECU failures and abnormal behavior
  • Reproduce issues in the lab and validate technical hypotheses
  • Work with hardware and systems teams
  • Conduct root cause analyses (RCA) and develop corrective and preventive action (CAPA) recommendations
  • Work with Zonal ECUs, gateways, body controllers, ADAS systems, connectivity platforms, and other automotive electronic modules
  • Identify systemic issues and define actions to prevent recurrence

Requirements

  • Advanced C/C++ programming for embedded systems, with 5+ years of experience
  • Advanced embedded firmware development and debugging, with 5+ years of experience
  • Advanced root cause analysis (RCA), with 5+ years of experience
  • Advanced software and firmware failure analysis, with 5+ years of experience
  • Advanced embedded systems debugging, with 5+ years of experience
  • Advanced analysis of logs, traces, and diagnostic files, with 5+ years of experience
  • Advanced automotive ECU architecture knowledge, with 5+ years of experience
  • Advanced knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, CAN FD, LIN), with 5+ years of experience
  • Advanced hardware-software integration, with 5+ years of experience
  • Intermediate to advanced real-time operating systems (RTOS) experience, with 3–5+ years of experience
  • Advanced experience reproducing failures in the lab and validating hypotheses, with 5+ years of experience
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with Flash memory management, bootloaders, and firmware updates, with 3–5+ years of experience
  • Advanced technical documentation and analysis reporting, with 5+ years of experience
  • Advanced automotive ECU troubleshooting, with 5+ years of experience
  • Intermediate to advanced CAPA (corrective and preventive actions) experience, with 3–5+ years of experience
