Purchase Engineer – Tooling Procurement

Manage tooling procurement, supplier performance, negotiations, and inventory control for manufacturing operations. Support new product introduction and smart manufacturing initiatives at Stanley Black & Decker.

Description

  • Manage end-to-end purchasing of tooling, dies, and associated manufacturing equipment
  • Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to review drawings, specifications, and tooling needs
  • Assess and develop tooling suppliers using cost, quality, capacity, and delivery criteria
  • Prepare requests for quotation, evaluate bids, and conduct commercial negotiations
  • Verify that acquired tooling satisfies technical, quality, and compliance standards
  • Monitor tooling orders and supplier progress while resolving delivery and quality concerns
  • Coordinate tooling readiness with project schedules for new product introduction
  • Pursue cost savings, supplier consolidation, and value engineering opportunities
  • Maintain procurement records, agreements, tooling databases, and supplier files
  • Organize tooling trials, first-article evaluations, and supplier corrective actions
  • Work with finance and operations teams on budgets and cost reporting

Requirements

  • Understanding of purchase order processes
  • Experience managing domestic and international suppliers
  • Ability to maintain supplier schedules and delivery commitments
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Knowledge of inventory analysis and control practices
  • Commitment to company procurement policies, safety requirements, and applicable regulations
