Digital and Interactive Content Developer (Active NOAA CAC Preferred)

Create multimedia communications for Element 84’s federal weather and geospatial programs. Turn complex science into accessible content for web, social media, outreach, and stakeholder communications.

Description

  • Plan and measure social media campaigns, including editorial calendars, publishing, monitoring, and audience engagement
  • Produce newsletters, announcements, web stories, outreach resources, presentations, graphics, infographics, short videos, and other multimedia content
  • Convert complex EPIC and UFS science and technology into accurate, accessible communications for varied audiences
  • Ensure consistent EPIC, UFS, and NOAA branding and maintain high editorial standards
  • Develop coordinated communications materials supporting education, outreach, events, software releases, technical milestones, and community initiatives
  • Review deliverables for accuracy, consistency, and overall quality
  • Oversee stakeholder engagement workflows, feedback collection, action tracking, approvals, and reporting
  • Coordinate communications, education, and branding activities for a program advancing modern weather prediction
  • Support NASA, NOAA, and USGS projects involving cloud-based geospatial and remotely sensed data

Requirements

  • At least three years of experience in communications or a comparable communications position
  • Hands-on experience producing and publishing multimedia content for websites and social platforms
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
  • Experience planning and delivering digital campaigns that improve audience engagement and visibility
  • Ability to use analytics, audience feedback, and market research to refine digital content and communications strategy
  • Ability to explain technical, policy, or scientific topics clearly to diverse audiences
  • Comfort working on a small team with subject-matter experts and external stakeholders
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and contributing new ideas
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote setting
  • Self-motivated, energetic, and team-oriented approach
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful U.S. residence with authorization to work in the United States
  • Element 84 does not provide current or future work-authorization sponsorship
  • Non-U.S. citizens must have lived continuously in the United States for the previous two years
  • Ability to pass a Department of Commerce NACI background investigation, including fingerprinting
  • Residence within the Washington, DC metropolitan area
  • Preferred: active NOAA CAC badge
  • Preferred: experience with project management tools
  • Preferred: environmental or climate-sector knowledge
  • Preferred: Google Analytics experience
  • Preferred: experience with Figma, Webflow, Storyline, or comparable tools
  • Preferred: experience with R, GIS fundamentals, Tableau, or Power BI
  • Preferred: knowledge of environmental, climate, sustainability, public-sector, or public risk communications
  • Availability to attend an in-person project presentation at one of Element 84’s headquarters locations
