Program Administrator, Highway Safety Grants

Oversee federally funded highway safety grants for the University of Tennessee’s transportation research center. Coordinate grantees, project budgets, compliance reviews, audits, and stakeholder training.

Description

  • Administer federal highway safety grants with law enforcement agencies, community organizations, colleges, universities, and commercial vendors
  • Train sub-grantees on grant management procedures during annual orientation sessions
  • Supervise project directors and advise them on report preparation and submission
  • Manage federally funded highway safety projects
  • Audit grant activities and procedures through site visits and telephone reviews
  • Advise on and authorize the budgetary compliance of grant-funded expenditures
  • Review post-application goals, objectives, budget categories, and allowable costs
  • Evaluate grant applications, contracts, quarterly reports, claims, and related records for accuracy and compliance
  • Verify that grant modifications comply with legal requirements
  • Represent the THSO at assigned conferences and meetings

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Three to five years of related professional experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven organizational ability
  • Capacity to perform independent analysis
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Strong management capabilities
  • Highly developed organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with agencies at local through federal levels
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel
  • Valid Tennessee driver’s license
  • Legal authorization to work full-time in the United States without current or future employment-based visa sponsorship
  • Knowledge of current highway safety program administration practices and procedures is preferred
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders outside THSO and UT
