Principal Full-Stack Engineer – Remote Philippines

Lead architecture and hands-on engineering for Rosterfy’s global volunteer-engagement SaaS platform. Build Laravel, Next.js, AI-enabled, event-driven systems across AWS and GCP.

Description

  • Own architecture and technical direction for core platform domains supporting both product squads
  • Dedicate 60–80% of your time to hands-on design, coding, reviews, pairing, and debugging with Laravel, Next.js, and cloud platforms
  • Lead discovery and delivery for high-impact initiatives that span teams or require substantial architectural change
  • Establish and promote architectural principles, coding standards, and scalable, resilient, observable system patterns
  • Advance shift-left testing, CI/CD improvements, production observability, test design, and validation practices
  • Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through design reviews, pairing sessions, and actionable feedback
  • Assess and prototype emerging technologies, including Vertex AI, GenAI workflows, and data pipelines
  • Bring engineering perspectives to roadmap planning, estimation, and technical trade-off decisions
  • Collaborate across both product squads on shared systems and complex technical challenges
  • Work with Engineering Leadership on long-term architecture and with Tech Leads on delivery and engineering practices
  • Own test strategy and validation, including coverage, pipeline health, and regression control
  • Improve scalability, stability, technical alignment, engineering quality, AI readiness, and multi-cloud capabilities

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of software engineering experience, including staff, principal, or architect-level work in a SaaS company
  • Advanced backend expertise with Laravel 10+ and PHP 8+ or comparable technologies, plus SQL, relational databases, caching, and REST APIs
  • Strong frontend architecture and design experience with React and Next.js
  • Experience designing scalable, secure cloud infrastructure; AWS is required, with GCP experience also indicated
  • Familiarity with event-driven or modular architectures and containerized platforms such as EKS or Kubernetes
  • Thorough knowledge of software testing strategies and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with Looker, BigQuery, machine-learning pipelines, or distributed-system performance tuning is a bonus
  • Experience with agentic AI architecture is a bonus
  • Experience improving feature delivery velocity with Copilot, Gemini, test automation, and scaffolding
  • Experience creating AI-enhanced product experiences using LLM APIs and prompt design
  • Ability to coach engineers on incorporating GenAI into their workflows
  • Ability to lead through influence, mentor engineers, establish standards, and share knowledge
  • Documentation-first working style covering decisions, code, and processes
