Software Development Engineer II - Florida Remote

Build secure Java and Spring Boot fintech platforms supporting NationsBenefits’ healthcare solutions. Develop microservices, APIs, automated tests, and cloud-integrated payment technology.

Description

  • Build and maintain FinTech application features with Java 21 and Spring Boot 3.x
  • Produce clean, documented, efficient code designed for performance and long-term maintainability
  • Connect the application with third-party APIs and services
  • Partner with senior engineers and teammates to deliver software solutions
  • Convert business needs from Product Managers into technical designs and features
  • Review code and promote effective engineering practices
  • Create unit and integration test coverage
  • Investigate and fix software defects
  • Support compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements
  • Improve development processes, tools, and technologies
  • Strengthen a collaborative engineering culture centered on knowledge sharing
  • Apply established security and compliance practices
  • Assess and reduce security risks and vulnerabilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline
  • 2–4 years of professional experience developing with Java 21 and Spring Boot 3.x
  • Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and RESTful API development
  • Practical experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL and MongoDB
  • Working knowledge of AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Azure
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Proficiency with Git
  • Experience using CI/CD pipelines and SonarQube
  • Experience with Agile software development methods
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Proficiency in automated testing with tools including JUnit, Mockito, and PITest
  • Preferred: familiarity with Jenkins, Kubernetes, and other DevOps automation tools
  • Preferred: experience with front-end frameworks such as React
  • Preferred: understanding of payment systems, transaction processing, and data security in FinTech applications
  • Preferred: awareness of compliance frameworks such as PCI-DSS
