Principal Cloud Engineer, Network Security - Hybrid

Lead the architecture and operation of reliable AWS platforms, enterprise networking, and cloud security for T. Rowe Price. The role covers automation, observability, resilience engineering, and complex incident response.

Description

  • Architect and evolve enterprise cloud platforms, including AWS Landing Zone environments
  • Build cloud foundations around availability, fault tolerance, recoverability, security, and operational resilience
  • Develop AWS solutions with services including EC2, S3, ECS, EKS, Elastic Load Balancing, RDS, Route 53, Lambda, and API Gateway
  • Automate advanced AWS networking with VPCs, Transit Gateway, VPC peering, PrivateLink, and Direct Connect
  • Maintain infrastructure as code with Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, and Git workflows
  • Own site reliability outcomes and expand reliability engineering practices across cloud platforms
  • Create reusable modules, reference architectures, and platform patterns for dependable deployments at scale
  • Establish reliability standards, availability targets, recovery expectations, resilience patterns, and operational readiness criteria
  • Integrate instrumentation, monitoring, logging, alerting, and service health metrics into platforms and services
  • Lead escalation response for complex incidents, including root-cause analysis and lasting remediation
  • Create guardrails that support secure, reliable, self-service cloud adoption
  • Help application teams manage end-to-end services while meeting platform reliability and operational requirements
  • Contribute to Agile delivery through story and epic development, work tracking, and sprint release support
  • Collaborate with application development, development services, enterprise architecture, enterprise security, and infrastructure teams
  • Mentor engineers while advancing operational excellence, continuous improvement, and technology modernization

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • At least 10 years of experience designing and operating cloud infrastructure at senior scope
  • Extensive practical AWS experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Azure
  • Expertise in cloud infrastructure, containers, serverless deployments, operating systems, networking, and identity and access management
  • Expert understanding of reliability engineering, including availability, resilience, observability, recovery, incident response, and operational readiness
  • Strong experience with AWS Landing Zone or comparable enterprise cloud foundation capabilities
  • Advanced experience automating infrastructure with Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, scripting, APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and secure development and operations practices
  • Demonstrated success designing, building, and operating highly reliable enterprise-scale cloud platforms
  • Strong diagnostic skills across infrastructure, networking, platform services, automation, and reliability layers
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with the ability to act as a design authority and influence without direct management responsibility
  • Experience mentoring engineers and guiding technical decisions across organizational boundaries
  • Cloud or site reliability engineering certifications are preferred
  • Experience in financial services, including asset management, investment banking, or fintech, is preferred
  • US employment authorization that does not require visa sponsorship now or in the future
