Mid-Level Data Scientist, Geospatial Image Processing

Develop machine learning models and geospatial solutions for agribusiness at BIP Brasil. Support data-driven decisions using satellite imagery and analytical data.

Description

  • Build machine learning models and apply statistical methods to agribusiness challenges.
  • Analyze geospatial, agronomic, climate, operational, and market data.
  • Process satellite images, aerial photographs, and other remote sensing data.
  • Develop models for classification, segmentation, forecasting, pattern detection, and insight generation.
  • Create and improve geoprocessing algorithms that automate data analysis and processing.
  • Use GIS tools to analyze, interpret, and visualize spatial data.
  • Combine data from APIs, databases, files, geospatial platforms, and external sources.
  • Organize data preparation, validation, and enrichment workflows.
  • Help develop indicators, dashboards, thematic maps, and analytical products.
  • Assess the quality, performance, and suitability of models.
  • Record methodologies, assumptions, findings, and analytical limitations.
  • Prepare reports and presentations that communicate key findings and recommendations.
  • Collaborate with technology, data, business, and client teams.
  • Turn business needs into analytical hypotheses and data-based solutions.
  • Help deploy models and improve them in production environments.
  • Apply data science, geoprocessing, and spatial analysis to create solutions that meet client needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, geography, agronomy, geoprocessing, or a related discipline.
  • Applicants with other educational backgrounds may be considered if their experience matches the role’s challenges.
  • Experience building machine learning models or performing statistical analysis.
  • Proficiency in Python or R for data processing, modeling, and analysis.
  • Familiarity with Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, or comparable libraries.
  • Experience working with geospatial data, spatial analysis, or geoprocessing.
  • Familiarity with QGIS, ArcGIS, or comparable platforms.
  • Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Ability to prepare, process, validate, and analyze varied datasets.
  • Ability to interpret results and communicate conclusions clearly.
  • Knowledge of model evaluation and validation metrics.
  • Strong collaboration skills in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to understand business problems and translate them into analytical approaches.
