Contract Health and Safety Manager

Lead QHSE strategy, compliance and safety culture across GXO’s multi-site logistics operation in Newark. Oversee audits, corrective actions and a geographically dispersed team.

Description

  • Set and deliver the contract-wide QHSE strategy across multiple sites, aligned with business and customer goals.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through behavioural safety initiatives, engagement programmes and leadership coaching.
  • Maintain compliance with UK health, safety, environmental and quality legislation, customer requirements and company standards.
  • Oversee audits, governance programmes and compliance reviews.
  • Ensure corrective actions are carried through effectively.
  • Review performance data, spot trends and turn findings into actions that reduce risk and improve operations.
  • Lead, coach and develop the multi-site QHSE team.
  • Strengthen QHSE capability among operational leaders.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with customers, regulators and other key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bring substantial senior QHSE leadership experience in logistics, supply chain, manufacturing or a comparable operational setting.
  • Have a track record of managing QHSE across multiple sites and leading teams spread across locations.
  • Know UK health and safety law, compliance obligations and management systems well.
  • Hold a NEBOSH Diploma or an equivalent Level 6 qualification.
  • Hold Chartered IOSH membership or be working towards Chartered status.
  • Show success in establishing and sustaining a positive safety culture.
  • Demonstrate strong stakeholder management, communication and influencing abilities.
  • Have experience presenting to senior leaders and customers.
  • Use strong analytical skills to interpret data, identify trends and drive meaningful performance gains.
  • Be willing to travel to other sites.
