Lead Software Engineer, Human Data Operations – California Remote

Lead AI Tutor teams that produce training data and evaluations for SpaceXAI models. Oversee quality, coaching, labeling operations, certifications, and process improvement across Human Data projects.

Description

  • Lead AI Tutors delivering training data and evaluations for SpaceXAI models
  • Own end-to-end quality and delivery for assigned Human Data projects
  • Review domain work for accuracy, consistency, guideline compliance, and scalable quality
  • Manage AI Tutor performance through coaching, reviews, records, action plans, shadow sessions, and continuous improvement
  • Oversee and contribute to labeling and review activities
  • Manage taxonomies and quality assurance workflows
  • Identify operational bottlenecks, improve processes, and monitor KPIs through dashboards
  • Create, maintain, and deliver training materials, practice tasks, and certification benchmarks
  • Manage certifications and workforce adjustments
  • Partner with Human Data Managers, Team Leads, and Engineering on labeling strategies and requirements
  • Develop talent while supporting accountability, performance standards, and disciplinary processes
  • Document outcomes and report project status, risks, and results
  • Represent tutors and strengthen collaboration across the Human Data organization

Requirements

  • At least one year of hands-on experience in data labeling, annotation, AI training or evaluation, content quality, or a comparable operational field
  • Professional experience developing scalable, high-performance technology applications
  • Experience with data quality metrics, annotation workflows, and guideline-based processes
  • Foundational knowledge of AI and machine learning, including how training data quality affects model performance
  • Experience in performance management, coaching, training program development, and certification frameworks
  • Must be based in one of the listed countries where SpaceXAI maintains a physical office; remote work is available
  • Preferred experience leading small teams in data labeling, annotation, or related operations
  • Preferred data analysis skills and experience with relevant tools; SQL is a plus
  • Preferred experience managing mixed employment types or distributed teams
  • Preferred specialization or strong domain expertise in Finance, STEM, Coding/Software Engineering, or another technical field
