Senior Electrical Engineer, Hardware (Hybrid)

Design electrical controls, power distribution, and robotic automation systems for automotive and industrial clients. Support panel fabrication, commissioning, and project delivery.

Description

  • Design electrical control systems, power distribution systems, and industrial automation solutions for automotive and other industrial clients
  • Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, single-line diagrams, panel layouts, and interconnection drawings
  • Complete load, short-circuit, cable-sizing, voltage-drop, and protective-device coordination calculations
  • Design industrial control panels to UL508A, NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 79, and applicable NEMA standards
  • Select and specify components such as circuit breakers, VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, relays, contactors, power supplies, sensors, and instrumentation
  • Prepare bills of materials, I/O lists, cable schedules, and supporting technical documentation
  • Contribute engineering estimates and technical solutions to proposal development
  • Coordinate with Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Project Management
  • Evaluate customer specifications and verify compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements
  • Support panel fabrication, factory and site acceptance testing, installation, and commissioning
  • Diagnose electrical and control-system issues during project execution and startup
  • Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous-improvement efforts
  • Provide the in-house shop with technical support for automation and controls equipment
  • Support industrial clients through Professional Industrial Consultants' program, project, construction management, planning, and consulting services

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 5–10 years of industry experience in the United States or Canada in electrical design engineering for industrial automation, electrical equipment, and robotics, depending on role level
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or comparable design software
  • Strong knowledge of power distribution, motor control circuits, and industrial automation systems
  • Understanding of applicable electrical standards and safety regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Periodic travel to the southwestern Michigan office for corporate events and important meetings
  • Must not require current or future H-1B visa sponsorship or transfers
