Mid-Level Backend Engineer - Zagreb Hybrid
Build high-throughput distributed backend services for Infobip’s global cloud communications platform. Work with Java, Kotlin, messaging systems, monitoring, and operational tooling.
Description
- Design, develop, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot backend services for core platform and messaging capabilities.
- Build systems that track and process platform traffic and operational metrics.
- Develop scalable, reliable distributed services optimized for high throughput and low latency.
- Contribute to internal tools for platform monitoring, alerting, and service configuration.
- Use data-intensive systems and relational databases to aggregate and expose operational insights.
- Own solutions through deployment, monitoring, and production support.
- Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and platform stakeholders on reliable technical solutions.
- Use AI to improve code quality, testing, and technical documentation.
Requirements
- At least three years of professional experience in backend or full-stack software engineering.
- Strong software engineering fundamentals, including object-oriented programming and concurrent or parallel systems.
- Professional experience building and maintaining distributed backend systems.
- Experience with relational databases and data-intensive applications.
- Understanding of backend scalability, reliability, observability, and performance optimization.
- Comfort working in agile development environments with iterative delivery and team collaboration.
- Willingness to work primarily with Java and Kotlin and learn additional technologies as needed.
- Proactive, ownership-oriented approach to problem-solving and operational responsibilities.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- Experience with multithreading in Java or Kotlin, especially for systems running across multiple data centers and communicating with one another.
- Familiarity with RabbitMQ, Redis, Kafka, MSSQL, and Postgres.
- Experience with monitoring, observability, or alerting systems.
