Junior/Intermediate Designer at New Flyer – Winnipeg Hybrid

Supports New Flyer’s manufacturing operations through CAD design, technical drawings, component testing, and bill-of-material releases. Coordinates engineering work from initial concept through production implementation.

Description

  • Handles design assignments and project work that support manufacturing operations
  • Manages assigned tasks against schedules, accounting for vendor and production lead times
  • Updates task progress and records time spent on each assignment
  • Develops designs aligned with customer requirements, Technical Summaries, contract documentation, and manufacturing capabilities
  • Verifies that designs satisfy applicable criteria and regulations
  • Performs or initiates controlled testing of components and installations
  • Prepares technical drawings and release documentation in line with Engineering procedures and ENAs (Notices of Action)
  • Supports Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Service Support, and other departments with engineering expertise
  • Works with vendors and customers to resolve design-related matters
  • Confirms that required vendor approval documents are available for new installations or applications

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a Certified Engineering Technologist designation
  • One to five years of experience in a related engineering position
  • Manufacturing experience is an asset
  • Strong CAD/Unigraphics and drafting experience
  • Excellent teamwork, problem-solving, and communication abilities
  • Able to work independently
  • Willingness to travel to the United States for less than 5% of the role
