Experian Data Engineer, Specialist I – Brazil Remote

Develop Experian’s petabyte-scale AWS data platform as a Data Engineer. Build dependable pipelines and support data-driven marketing solutions.

Description

  • Design and evolve Experian’s petabyte-scale AWS data platform
  • Develop and optimize scalable pipelines with JVM languages, Spark, Python, and cloud-native services
  • Provide principal-level technical leadership through mentorship, code reviews, and engineering best practices
  • Partner with architects, product owners, and engineering leaders on architecture and design decisions
  • Plan and deliver complex technical initiatives within agile value-stream teams
  • Maintain operational readiness through coding standards, testing, monitoring, and release procedures
  • Support production deployments and help preserve platform stability
  • Evaluate and adopt GraphQL integrations, vector databases, and AI/LLM techniques
  • Advance data-driven marketing capabilities while improving long-term platform scalability and reliability

Requirements

  • Expert-level experience in software and data engineering for large-scale data platforms
  • Deep experience building petabyte-scale systems with Java-based languages such as Scala and Apache Spark
  • Advanced knowledge of the AWS data ecosystem, including Glue, S3, Athena, Managed Airflow, and Iceberg
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and highly parallelized workloads
  • Advanced ability to optimize queries, partition data, and design efficient storage patterns
  • AWS expertise is required; Azure or GCP experience is advantageous
  • Experience shaping long-term architecture and platform design
  • Strong capabilities in code review, mentorship, and technical leadership
  • Practical experience in agile environments and collaboration across multiple engineering teams
  • Strong version-control and multi-repository collaboration skills with Git, GitHub, and Bitbucket
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Advanced English proficiency
  • Availability to travel to São Carlos, São Paulo, when needed
  • DBT or other modern transformation-framework experience is desirable
  • Knowledge of concurrent and parallel programming is desirable
  • Familiarity with Python, Angular, and TypeScript is desirable
  • Experience with vector databases is desirable
  • Practical experience applying AI/LLM techniques is desirable
