Senior Water Resources Project Engineer – TYPSA US, Onsite

Lead design and technical delivery of major water infrastructure projects, from dams and conveyance systems to water and wastewater treatment. Coordinate project teams and support clients, agencies, and stakeholders.

Description

  • Direct planning and design for major water infrastructure projects serving public and private clients.
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses covering dam safety, reservoir routing, surface water modeling, flood control, and system performance.
  • Lead engineering for large pipelines, aqueducts, channels, tunnels, pumping stations, and related hydraulic facilities.
  • Manage feasibility studies and design work for dams, reservoirs, weirs, diversion structures, and water storage and regulation systems.
  • Lead projects involving drinking water supply, regional water treatment, wastewater treatment, reuse, recycled water, and advanced treatment.
  • Produce engineering calculations, technical memoranda, design reports, and supporting records.
  • Prepare construction plans and specifications, cost estimates, and quantity takeoffs.
  • Ensure designs follow applicable local, state, and federal regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Guide and mentor Project Engineers.
  • Work with Project Managers on design delivery, coordination, schedules, budgets, and communications.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and join meetings with internal groups, clients, agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Develop proposals, scopes, technical methods, fee materials, statements of qualifications, and technical narratives.
  • Provide responsive client service and build professional relationships with stakeholders.
  • Present technical findings to clients, agencies, and colleagues.
  • Work across engineering, environmental, construction, and digital services teams.
  • Represent TYPSA at professional associations, technical committees, and industry events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in water engineering.
  • Track record designing and delivering major hydraulic infrastructure, such as large transmission systems, dams, reservoirs, or regional water treatment facilities.
  • Professional Engineer license, with ability to obtain California licensure by comity within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Experience leading large hydraulic infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working with municipal, state, or federal agencies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and engineering judgment.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute effectively within project teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including technical writing and presentations.
  • Experience using standard engineering software and modeling tools.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic modeling platforms such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, EPANET, SWMM, eInfoWorks, or equivalents.
  • Experience with dam-break and reservoir-routing models.
  • Experience with GIS-based hydrologic analysis tools.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and support projects across multiple locations.
  • Willingness to travel as project and client needs require.
  • Valid driver’s license and eligibility for coverage under the company’s insurance carrier.
