Description

  • Build and maintain embedded software for Smart Tracking products
  • Use Lua to extend product capabilities and functionality
  • Deliver focused software features with support from senior engineers
  • Convert defined requirements into functional software implementations
  • Develop practical expertise with Lua and its supporting development tools
  • Create terminal applications from functional specifications
  • Diagnose, investigate, and fix software defects
  • Assess affected services and apply appropriate corrections
  • Use the automated regression testing framework
  • Write and maintain automated test coverage
  • Conduct manual and automated tests for reliability and performance
  • Help improve testing workflows and coverage over time
  • Work with developers, testers, and cross-functional partners
  • Contribute to code reviews, team conversations, and development planning
  • Learn ORBCOMM products, systems, and engineering practices through hands-on work and mentorship
  • Support goals connected to the Smart Tracking application roadmap
  • Report to the Director, Modem Software

Requirements

  • Bring 3–5 years of experience developing software applications with modern programming languages
  • Know core software development practices, debugging methods, and troubleshooting approaches
  • Understand the principles of embedded software development
  • Have experience working in Linux or a comparable development environment
  • Understand software testing concepts and automated testing practices
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities
  • Learn unfamiliar technologies quickly and apply them effectively
  • Lua programming experience is preferred
  • Experience building terminal or command-line applications is preferred
  • Exposure to regression testing frameworks or automated test development is preferred
  • Experience with IoT, telecommunications, tracking, or connected-device products is preferred
  • Use AI-enabled tools and automation to support daily work and productivity; maintain a commitment to ongoing digital and AI literacy development
  • Commitment to continuous learning in digital and AI literacy
