Core Engine Programmer - C++ (Hybrid)

Build and advance IO Interactive’s proprietary Glacier engine for ambitious multiplatform games. Develop scalable C++ systems that support multiple console generations and studio projects.

Description

  • Design, build, and maintain foundational engine systems such as entity management, resource handling, and infrastructure
  • Advance the proprietary Glacier engine for upcoming and active game projects
  • Create reliable, maintainable C++ systems used across multiple titles and console generations
  • Improve memory use and runtime performance while addressing scalability and platform limitations
  • Create, integrate, and maintain profiling and diagnostic tooling
  • Partner with the Technical Director and Engine team to define and deliver the technical roadmap
  • Help expand platform support by adapting core systems to new technologies and platforms
  • Coach junior engineers and promote effective knowledge sharing
  • Develop and uphold consistent studio coding practices and standards

Requirements

  • At least three years of professional engine programming experience with C++
  • Experience shipping at least one AAA game as an engine programmer
  • Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, memory management, and multithreading
  • Advanced ability to diagnose complex issues spanning systems in large codebases
  • Experience with console development and platform-specific technical constraints
  • Ability to decompose work, estimate effort, and evaluate engineering scope
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a distributed international team
