Catastrophe Pricing Actuary - New York Hybrid

Develop catastrophe pricing strategies and models for Everest’s global insurance business. Support portfolio risk management across major perils and international markets.

Description

  • Lead catastrophe pricing strategy across major perils, including hurricanes, earthquakes, wildfires, and floods, in designated global markets.
  • Implement a next-generation pricing framework using model outputs, climate insights, and portfolio considerations.
  • Align pricing with risk-adjusted returns, market conditions, and underwriting objectives.
  • Convert catastrophe model outputs from Verisk, Moody’s, and other platforms into pricing metrics and underwriting guidance.
  • Create CAT pricing loads, technical pricing assumptions, and pricing segmentation approaches.
  • Improve data supporting risk rating, modeling methods, and pricing tools.
  • Track catastrophe accumulation and portfolio risk.
  • Evaluate rate adequacy, profitability, and catastrophe return metrics.
  • Support portfolio optimization through pro formas reflecting changes to limits, attachment points, deductibles, and sublimits.
  • Provide traditional and technical actuarial support to Everest’s Primary Casualty business.
  • Build new tools and capabilities as the business expands.

Requirements

  • At least five years of actuarial experience in property pricing.
  • Expert knowledge of catastrophe modeling platforms such as Verisk and Moody’s, along with CAT risk concepts.
  • Demonstrated experience applying catastrophe modeling to pricing and portfolio decisions.
  • Advanced analytics skills, with proficiency in SQL and preferably Python or R.
  • Ability to turn analytical findings into practical business decisions.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining complex catastrophe and pricing topics to nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Comfort working in a fast-changing environment with competing priorities.
