Backend Software Engineer, Webex Signaling (Hybrid - Seattle) at Cisco

Build reliable Webex Signaling microservices at Cisco using Java, Spring, and Kubernetes. Develop telemetry capabilities and apply AI-assisted engineering tools across the software lifecycle.

Description

  • Contribute to technical design and implementation within a continuous integration and delivery team
  • Build cloud-native microservices for Kubernetes and comparable platforms
  • Apply DevOps practices to keep services reliable, scalable, secure, manageable, and supportable
  • Improve Webex telemetry systems for analytics, observability, and ongoing refinement
  • Use Cisco-approved AI-assisted software engineering tools throughout the development lifecycle
  • Review AI-generated code, designs, tests, documentation, and recommendations for correctness, security, privacy, performance, maintainability, and licensing or intellectual-property concerns
  • Serve as a quality gate for code, designs, architecture, and scalable technical solutions
  • Coordinate product teams, architectural direction, and implementation
  • Work with globally distributed teams while advancing technical quality, collaboration, and continuous learning

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to perform the work on U.S. soil
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • At least 3 years of professional software development experience with Java
  • At least 2 years of experience with Spring and Spring Boot
  • At least 2 years of backend software engineering experience
  • At least 2 years participating in the software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, deployment, and production support
  • At least 1 year using AI tools to improve productivity and efficiency
  • Preferred: at least 2 years building large-scale distributed applications with Cassandra, Kafka, and Redis
  • Preferred: at least 2 years working with REST APIs, API design patterns, JSON, containerized systems, and scalable microservices
  • Preferred: at least 2 years designing or operating telemetry, monitoring, and analytics systems
  • Preferred: at least 2 years working with Kubernetes, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and production observability
  • Preferred: at least 2 years working with SQL and NoSQL databases at scale
