Assistant Manager, Public Relations – Hong Kong (Hybrid)

Lead corporate public relations for Bowtie in Hong Kong, shaping media engagement, executive visibility, and crisis communications. Develop data-informed narratives and secure meaningful coverage across mainstream, business, and lifestyle media.

Description

  • Lead Bowtie’s corporate PR strategy, including media relations, press releases, executive positioning, and crisis preparedness
  • Identify newsworthy angles across flagship products, service initiatives, and brand strategy
  • Coordinate launches around relevant news cycles to strengthen media impact
  • Develop relationships with Tier-1 journalists and editors across Hong Kong’s mainstream, business, and lifestyle media
  • Deliver more than five Tier-1 media placements per quarter during the first six months
  • Combine internal and external data to create authoritative reports and thought-leadership content
  • Follow daily news and industry developments, contributing Bowtie’s perspective to emerging discussions
  • Create and manage an executive positioning programme for senior leaders
  • Build inbound media interest and secure at least two executive interviews per quarter during the first six months
  • Maintain a press release pipeline covering product launches, senior hires, partnerships, and financial milestones
  • Distribute company announcements through major wires and media outlets
  • Develop rapid-response procedures, risk-mitigation frameworks, crisis templates, and media sentiment tracking
  • Measure and report PR results, targeting a 10% increase in organic search traffic and social mentions within nine months of major campaigns
  • Partner with the Brand Lead to translate service and product initiatives into mainstream media stories

Requirements

  • At least eight years of public relations experience in-house or with an agency
  • Experience in financial services, insurance, fintech, or another regulated sector is preferred
  • Demonstrated success earning unpaid Tier-1 coverage in Hong Kong, particularly for a challenger or emerging brand
  • Strong storytelling ability, with skill in turning brand and product messages into timely media pitches
  • Confidence working with data and converting complex information into clear, persuasive thought leadership
  • Experience leading executive positioning initiatives and crisis communications
  • Fluent written and spoken Cantonese and English
  • Ability to produce high-quality press materials in Cantonese and English
  • Written Traditional Chinese is essential
  • Agile, proactive, resourceful, and persuasive approach
  • Adaptable and resilient in a fast-moving startup with limited resources
