Analytics and Visualisation Engineer – New Zealand Remote

Build public health dashboards, ETL pipelines, and GIS visualisations for PHF Science. Help advance data-led public health research across New Zealand.

Description

  • Develop and maintain PHF Science’s public health dashboards and data pipelines
  • Combine complex, varied datasets to strengthen the organisation’s scientific work
  • Collaborate with PHF Science specialists to turn data into meaningful insights
  • Build scalable ETL pipelines and API integrations
  • Connect diverse datasets with GIS-enabled visualisations
  • Design solutions for near-real-time data collection, ingestion, storage, and analysis
  • Establish technical standards for analytics application development and deployment
  • Support requirements gathering and recommendations based on best practices and future-state design
  • Find opportunities to continually improve service delivery and solutions
  • Submit a cover letter and CV describing your interest and relevant skills

Requirements

  • Professional analytics experience sufficient to perform the responsibilities outlined above
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, IT, Data Engineering, or a related field
  • Relevant analytical programming experience with R, Python, R Shiny, Tableau, Power BI, T-SQL, and/or Snowflake
  • Experience developing cloud systems, preferably for data science or analytics, with Azure experience ideal
  • Strong numerical and analytical capability
  • Highly developed problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Cross-cultural communication experience is desirable but not required
  • Understanding of, or willingness to build capability in, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tikanga Māori, and/or te reo Māori
  • The successful candidate must complete pre-employment drug screening and a police records check
