Staff Data Engineer, Remote in the United States

Descriere

  • Own Moxie's data platform, from pipelines and warehouse through the modeling layer.
  • Coordinate with Engineering on production schema changes as data moves from Postgres to Snowflake.
  • Collaborate with Finance to represent accounting logic in data models.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines.
  • Ensure business-critical data remains available to internal teams and the practices Moxie serves.
  • Manage and improve dbt models, including financial reporting logic and its effects on downstream metrics.
  • Assume ownership of orchestration and observability using Prefect and Snowflake Openflow.
  • Complete a major first-quarter project: either an accrual-basis accounting model or historical EMR data modeling.
  • Define procedures and performance indicators for security reviews, schema changes, failure triage, infrastructure performance, and cost.
  • Improve the data stack and develop pipelines and models for predictive and prescriptive Practice Intelligence.
  • Put safeguards in place for LLM-generated content in data products.

Cerințe

  • Bring 5–10 years of data engineering experience.
  • Have served as an early data hire, building a system from its foundations into a business-critical platform.
  • Demonstrate strong dbt and SQL modeling skills for implementing business logic.
  • Have modeled cash and accrual accounting, incentive logic, and revenue definitions.
  • Bring strong Python skills and sound software engineering fundamentals.
  • Have built production pipelines with Prefect, Airflow, Dagster, or a comparable tool.
  • Have managed schema evolution from an operational database into a warehouse.
  • Have experience establishing alerting and observability.
  • Show a record of leading delivery end to end with non-technical partners.
  • Take responsibility for uptime, reliability, SLAs, runbooks, KPIs, and cost optimization.
  • Be fluent with AI tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, n8n, or similar.
  • Be able to explain where LLMs fit in a data stack and where they require safeguards.
