- Lead a product area across releases while maintaining a component, prototype, or tool used by fellow designers
- Create functional prototypes with real components and data to evaluate concepts and align product and engineering
- Choose research approaches that inform decisions, synthesize findings, and recommend next steps
- Set success measures before development and track results, adjusting direction when evidence warrants it
- Establish standards for error and empty states, responsive behavior, WCAG 2.0 AA compliance, and consistent patterns
- Advocate for recommendations in areas of disagreement and guide senior stakeholders toward decisions
- Strengthen design quality through reviews, mentorship, and direct design execution
- Partner with product managers, engineers, and designers across the complete design process
- Translate complex requirements into intuitive, practical, and visually engaging product experiences

- Has led a product area through multiple releases and can demonstrate product judgment through a portfolio
- Brings broad UX and visual design capability, with exceptional depth in at least one area
- Uses AI to build and deliver tools or experiences that others depend on
- Can prototype in code and with AI-assisted tools
- Understands how components and data influence design decisions
- Recognizes the implementation cost and complexity of design choices
- Has worked with dense data, permissions, regulated settings, and information-heavy interfaces
- Can challenge ideas constructively and revise their perspective when evidence supports it
- Experience in fintech, wealth management, or another regulated industry is a bonus
- Experience bringing products from zero to one is a bonus
- Experience creating a design system or a substantial part of one is a bonus
- Front-end development or design engineering experience is a bonus
