Senior Credit Analyst, Counterparty Risk

Evaluate financial institutions, counterparties, and sovereign risk at U.S. Bank. Assign credit ratings, manage exposure limits, and contribute to risk governance.

Apraksts

  • Research creditworthiness across financial institutions, market intermediaries, public entities, and sovereigns.
  • Conduct due diligence and underwrite credit in line with established standards and policy.
  • Evaluate counterparties’ operating context, leadership, ownership, market position, concentrations, financial results, strengths, weaknesses, and trends.
  • Assess sovereign and country risk, including economic and political conditions affecting counterparties.
  • Set internal credit ratings and probability of default assessments, then prepare evidence-based approval recommendations.
  • Set, review, and manage credit limits for institutions, countries, and related counterparty activity.
  • Complete annual reviews of counterparties and countries.
  • Work with business units, Risk, Compliance, Audit, and other lines of defense.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, review, or oversee an effective risk management framework.
  • Contribute to projects that support compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Spot process, system, or human-error gaps and help shape solutions that reduce potential losses.
  • Identify and address risks, escalating them when appropriate.
  • Act as a functional liaison between the business unit and the lines of defense.
  • Support teams across international financial institutions, correspondent banking, foreign exchange, corporate treasury, capital markets, corporate payment systems, mortgage, leasing, wealth management, and trust.

Prasības

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Typically more than six years of relevant experience.
  • Two to three years of counterparty credit underwriting experience, preferably at a large financial institution managing complex institutional exposures.
  • Experience assessing financial institutions, foreign banks, sovereign or country risk, broker-dealers, clearing organizations, or government-sponsored entities.
  • Commercial credit underwriting experience may be considered in place of direct counterparty underwriting experience.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking ability, including evaluation of complex information, market conditions, and global economic or political developments.
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-management, collaboration, and influencing skills across business units and stakeholder groups.
  • Curiosity about global markets, economic developments, foreign banking systems, and country risk.
  • Ability to follow U.S. Bank policies and procedures, including its Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and related workplace conduct and safety policies.
  • Some roles may be subject to FINRA, NMLS registration, Reg Z, Reg G, OFAC, NFA, FCPA, Bank Secrecy Act, SAFE Act, or applicable federal guideline requirements.
