The National Alliance to End Homelessness is a nonpartisan U.S. nonprofit working to prevent and end homelessness. It supports the sector through research and analysis, policy advocacy, and practical resources and training for people working to address homelessness. Its work also advances racial equity and promotes policies that help people affected by homelessness.

Communications Manager

Coordinate publications, campaigns, and organization-wide messaging at the National Alliance to End Homelessness. Help advance efforts to prevent and end homelessness.

Apraksts

  • Coordinate daily communications workflows and projects across the organization.
  • Connect the Communications team with program teams on publications, campaigns, events, and other projects.
  • Build relationships with program staff and learn their goals, audiences, priorities, and upcoming work.
  • Advise program teams on communications strategy, audiences, and deliverables.
  • Turn communications needs into actionable plans and timelines.
  • Allocate Communications team resources in line with organizational priorities.
  • Refer significant messaging, positioning, priority, or capacity concerns to the Vice President of Communications.
  • Maintain the communications calendar.
  • Manage communications requests, planning, timelines, document reviews, and approvals.
  • Coordinate overlapping deadlines and identify ways to improve workflows.
  • Support the Communications team’s daily coordination.
  • Work with the Vice President of Communications to manage priorities, capacity, and resource needs.
  • Coordinate projects and provide guidance and feedback to the Digital Communications Specialist and Communications Associate.
  • Manage vendor and contractor projects, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Draft and proofread web, social media, and newsletter content.
  • Support video projects, polling and message-testing research, coalition work, and related communications tasks.
  • Report to the Vice President of Communications and carry out other assigned duties.

Prasības

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, public policy, journalism, or a related field.
  • Relevant work experience combined with lived experience of homelessness will also be considered.
  • At least six years of communications experience, ideally in a nonprofit or advocacy setting.
  • Strong project management skills, including experience coordinating complex publication workflows and cross-functional communications projects.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with experience handling multiple concurrent deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and build effective relationships with subject-matter experts.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to adapt content for diverse audiences.
  • Sound communications judgment and the ability to identify issues that need strategic guidance or escalation.
  • Familiarity with content management systems, project management tools, and publishing workflows.
  • Ability to anticipate competing priorities and potential bottlenecks and develop practical solutions.
  • Knowledge of homelessness, housing policy, or social justice issues is a plus.
  • Nonprofit or policy communications experience is strongly preferred.
