Web Software Engineer (Contract) – United States Remote
Contract full-stack engineer developing scalable web applications and AI capabilities for Method through client-embedded product delivery. Take products from unclear initial concepts through production using modern web, cloud, and AI technologies.
Description
- Work directly with client teams to define, scope, and deliver full-stack products from ambiguous briefs through production
- Build and deploy scalable web applications with React, Next.js, TypeScript, modern backend frameworks, and cloud platforms
- Turn AI concepts into production features using LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, agentic workflows, and intelligent automation
- Evaluate AI features and apply appropriate guardrails while managing cost and latency
- Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery without compromising code quality
- Create infrastructure-as-code and automated deployment pipelines
- Build and maintain automated tests, including evaluation harnesses for AI functionality
- Review code, promote engineering best practices, and uphold strong quality standards
- Lead technically and mentor both client and internal teams
- Align delivery expectations with stakeholders while balancing scope, quality, and speed
- Monitor developments across web and AI technologies and identify opportunities for practical leverage
Requirements
- Hands-on experience taking AI features from prototype to production, including monitoring, evaluation, and iteration with real users (nice to have)
- Experience designing and managing large-scale frontend architectures such as microfrontends, monorepos, and shared internal libraries (nice to have)
- Experience maintaining and evolving CI/CD pipelines and related DevOps tooling (nice to have)
- Experience developing authentication systems and protected applications (nice to have)
- Experience using monitoring, logging, application security, and AI observability tools (nice to have)
- Experience architecting complex software systems (nice to have)
- Experience fine-tuning, distilling, or otherwise customizing models, with a clear perspective on when those approaches are preferable to prompting or retrieval (nice to have)
- Comfort working in ambiguous environments with rapid feedback cycles
- Willingness and ability to lead communication with project stakeholders
- Ability to explain technical constraints and the capabilities and limitations of AI to technical and non-technical audiences
