Unreal Engine Developer – Remote in North Carolina

Build real-time industrial digital twins and simulations at SAS using Unreal Engine. Connect immersive environments with IoT telemetry, machine learning outputs, and analytics pipelines.

Description

  • Create and enhance photorealistic digital twin environments in Unreal Engine 5
  • Build real-time simulations and visualizations for industrial systems, robotic fleets, and logistics operations
  • Connect Unreal Engine experiences to live telemetry, sensor data, and machine learning outputs from SAS analytics pipelines
  • Develop and optimize Blueprints and C++ modules for simulation logic, physical behavior, and user interactions
  • Implement dynamic asset loading and level streaming systems
  • Integrate and expand Unreal Engine plugins, including the SAS Connector and third-party extensions
  • Use Unreal Insights and engine profiling tools to identify and resolve performance and stability problems
  • Record performance and stability findings for the broader team
  • Apply and improve pipeline management and version-control practices with Perforce and Plastic SCM
  • Contribute to open-source initiatives representing SAS
  • Apply relevant security policies and processes that support secure software development
  • Work with IoT engineers, optimization specialists, software architects, engineers, artists, and analysts

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline
  • At least five years of professional experience creating interactive 3D applications with Unreal Engine
  • Strong working ability with both Blueprints and C++
  • Experience delivering at least one real-time 3D or simulation project from prototype to release
  • Working knowledge of bringing external data into real-time applications through JSON, REST, WebSocket, or MQTT
  • Experience with team-based content pipelines and version control using Perforce, Plastic SCM, or Git
  • A comparable combination of education, training, and relevant experience may substitute for the qualifications above
  • Experience with Unreal Engine server/client architecture and network replication
  • Exposure to digital twin, industrial simulation, or enterprise visualization work
  • Understanding of analytics or streaming-data concepts, or willingness to learn SAS products such as CI360, Intelligent Decisioning, or Event Stream Processing
  • Game-industry experience or a portfolio of shipped games, titles, or interactive experiences
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Must not need employment-visa sponsorship now or in the future
