Staff Software Engineer – Warehouse Fulfillment (Bangalore, Onsite)
Lead the architecture and delivery of scalable, cloud-native warehouse fulfillment systems for Walmart International. Drive engineering quality, technical leadership, and mentorship from Walmart’s Bangalore office.
Description
- Translate customer and operational needs into business plans and project execution.
- Set priorities, communicate plans, remove delivery obstacles, allocate resources, and track progress.
- Own the end-to-end design, architecture, and delivery of one or more systems or products.
- Partner effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Estimate work, assess risks, sequence priorities, and deliver against project timelines.
- Advance engineering practices across code quality, documentation, testing, and monitoring.
- Develop and operate systems that meet certification, regulatory, and information-security requirements.
- Deliver product architectures and implementations that are scalable, extensible, and highly performant.
- Evaluate and test programs and products before release.
- Identify opportunities to extend existing systems into new products and services.
- Deliver reliable, high-quality products that satisfy business and technical requirements on schedule.
- Coach engineers, develop technical capability, and provide hands-on technical leadership.
- Lead associate development through hiring, training, mentoring, delegation, performance reviews, recognition, and coaching.
- Uphold company policies, ethical standards, integrity, and compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related field plus four years of software engineering or related experience; alternatively, six years of relevant experience.
- At least 10 years of object-oriented software development experience.
- Professional experience with Java, Spring Boot, GraphQL, Hibernate, Kubernetes, Docker, microservices, Azure or another cloud platform, Kafka, MSSQL, and NoSQL databases such as Cosmos DB or MongoDB.
- Advanced knowledge of event-driven programming; Kafka experience is recommended.
- Practical experience with Mockito and Jenkins.
- Practical experience writing JUnit tests and using Maven, Ant, Gradle, and Git.
- Experience with Splunk, OpenObserve, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Foundational knowledge of large language models, generative AI, and agentic AI.
- Expertise with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience building products with high scalability and availability.
- Strong command of data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Knowledge of security principles and protocols covering authentication, authorization, and confidentiality.
- Ability and willingness to learn new skills as project requirements evolve.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.
- Ability to mentor junior developers and strengthen software engineering practices.
