Staff Platform Engineer, AI Infrastructure - Thomson Reuters Hybrid

Lead platform engineering for Thomson Reuters’ generative AI tax and accounting products. Build secure, scalable cloud infrastructure, delivery pipelines, observability, and developer enablement systems.

Description

  • Architect and evolve cloud-native platform capabilities
  • Shape technical strategy and promote engineering excellence
  • Deliver scalable, reliable, secure, and cost-efficient infrastructure for product teams
  • Productionize backend services that support generative AI agents and orchestration
  • Partner with AI/ML engineers, frontend developers, product managers, and SREs
  • Develop AI-native solutions for tax, accounting, and audit professionals
  • Create and maintain golden-path implementations for automated build, test, and deployment workflows
  • Build and operate CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, Playwright, and Snyk
  • Develop Go CLI tools and services that improve developer workflows
  • Define and advance DORA metrics, including deployment frequency and change failure rate
  • Lead production infrastructure implementation across Kubernetes, Vercel, AWS, GCP, and AI platforms
  • Implement platform security controls through multi-cloud strategies and CNCF technologies
  • Build monitoring, logging, and alerting with Datadog and LLM observability tools
  • Establish processes and documentation for more than 150 product managers, researchers, and engineers
  • Coordinate product, engineering, and operations teams around business goals
  • Coach colleagues and guide architectural decisions
  • Encourage experimentation and ongoing improvement in AI technologies and methods
  • Track industry developments and promote relevant cloud, platform engineering, and SRE practices

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in backend, platform, production, or site reliability engineering
  • Experience building, deploying, and operating backend services with client interfaces for product and engineering teams
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills across DNS, TCP, IP, and TLS protocols
  • Extensive practical experience with cloud-native services
  • Proficiency with container registries, Kubernetes or ECS, object storage, managed PostgreSQL, serverless functions, networking, IAM, infrastructure as code, secrets management, and pub/sub systems
  • Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Preferred: Proficiency in Go, Python, Rust, or another systems programming language
  • Preferred: Experience with Terraform and CUE
  • Preferred: Experience building AI-driven systems and agent architectures, using LLM evaluation tools and AI APIs such as OpenAI and Anthropic
  • Preferred: End-to-end ownership of SOC 2-compliant systems
  • Preferred: Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, or search-based AI
  • Preferred: Clear perspectives on infrastructure architecture, end-to-end testing, automation, middleware, and RPC or REST API patterns
