Software Engineer, Video Algorithms (C++ and Python) at NVIDIA – Yokneam Hybrid

Develop NVENC and NVDEC video algorithm components with C++ and Python. Optimize codec performance and help move research code into production SDK releases.

Description

  • Design and implement core video architecture and algorithm components in C++ and Python
  • Collaborate with architects and algorithm engineers to develop, implement, and optimize solutions
  • Review code, mentor engineers from non-software backgrounds, and strengthen software engineering practices
  • Deliver targeted SDK and video-stack changes that allow researchers to evaluate new ideas
  • Move research code through development and into released NVENC and NVDEC SDKs
  • Profile and optimize codec-stack critical paths, using CUDA when CPU optimization is insufficient
  • Develop and enhance the libraries, frameworks, and tools used by the team

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering
  • At least two years of relevant experience
  • Strong command of modern C++, including C++14/17/20, templates, RAII, concurrency, move semantics, and the standard library
  • Ability to write idiomatic, performant, and well-tested Python
  • Strong software design judgment with attention to code quality, APIs, modularity, testability, abstractions, performance, and maintainability
  • Self-directed approach and ability to learn independently
  • Logical, coherent thinking and effective verbal communication
  • Experience using Linux for development, including CMake, Git, debuggers, profilers, and sanitizers
  • Familiarity with or interest in video compression and codecs such as NVENC, NVDEC, FFmpeg, GStreamer, x264/x265, AV1, and VVC
  • Experience with CUDA or GPU programming

Benefits

  • NVIDIA is regarded as a highly desirable technology employer
  • Opportunity to work with forward-thinking and dedicated colleagues
  • Creative and autonomous work environment
