Software Engineer, Distributed Systems Infrastructure — Gamma, San Francisco Onsite

Build scalable backend infrastructure, APIs, databases, and event pipelines for Gamma’s collaborative presentation platform. Help support a product serving more than 70 million users and millions of daily gammas.

Description

  • Design and deliver scalable APIs, distributed systems, and data infrastructure for millions of users
  • Shape the core data model and storage systems that support Gamma’s business
  • Release backend capabilities that influence growth metrics and user experience
  • Develop real-time collaboration features, databases, public APIs, and high-volume event pipelines
  • Balance foundational technical improvements with the need to ship quickly
  • Partner with frontend, product, and data teams to deliver reliable solutions on demanding timelines

Requirements

  • Bring 3–5 or more years of backend engineering experience building scalable systems
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency with Node.js, Python, or comparable backend technologies
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency with PostgreSQL and Redis or comparable database systems
  • Have experience operating high-traffic production systems and optimizing performance
  • Show a record of delivering complex, high-quality applications under demanding deadlines
  • Apply a product-oriented perspective to technical decisions affecting user experience and business metrics
  • Work effectively in fast-moving, product-led environments where delivery quality influences growth
  • Experience with real-time collaboration, event pipelines, or AI-powered applications is a plus
  • Be located in the Bay Area or willing to relocate to San Francisco
  • Be willing to work onsite four to five days per week
  • Must address US visa sponsorship requirements
