Senior/Principal Data Engineer – Brazil (Remote)

Build and evolve scalable AWS data platforms for enterprise analytics, reporting, and machine learning. Design batch and streaming pipelines while shaping architecture and mentoring data engineers.

Description

  • Build and operate secure, dependable data platforms, pipelines, and data products at scale
  • Lead architectural discussions covering data models, storage approaches, integration patterns, and platform evolution
  • Own technical solutions from design through delivery and help guide engineering and architectural decisions
  • Create batch and streaming data solutions with modern cloud-native technologies
  • Drive platform modernization efforts and ongoing technical enhancements
  • Define and champion engineering standards for CI/CD, testing, observability, security, and data quality
  • Coach Data Engineers through technical support, code reviews, and knowledge exchange
  • Coordinate onboarding for new team members and help them integrate into the engineering organization
  • Partner with Product Managers, Software Engineers, Analysts, and business stakeholders on scalable data solutions
  • Help shape technical roadmaps and engineering direction across teams

Requirements

  • Bring 5–8+ years of Software Engineering experience, including 3–5+ years working hands-on in Data Engineering
  • Have an Upper-Intermediate or higher level of English
  • Demonstrate substantial experience building and operating scalable cloud-based data platforms and pipelines
  • Possess advanced SQL proficiency
  • Understand data modeling and data architecture principles deeply
  • Write production-quality Python
  • Have hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Databricks, and Kafka
  • Build ETL/ELT pipelines and orchestration workflows
  • Bring strong AWS expertise, including cloud-native data services
  • Have designed modern data warehouse or lakehouse architectures
  • Apply strong system design and problem-solving skills
  • Balance business needs with technical considerations when making architecture decisions
  • Mentor engineers and advance sound engineering practices
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders
  • Experience with Scala or Java is a plus
  • Experience with real-time data streaming architectures is a plus
  • Exposure to large-scale distributed systems is a plus
  • Experience with observability and data quality frameworks is a plus
  • Experience contributing to platform modernization programs is a plus
  • Background in enterprise analytics or machine learning data platforms is a plus
