Senior Oracle Database Security Engineer Bulgaria Remote Contract
Secure and automate Oracle 19c environments hosted on Azure for a regulated SaaS platform. Own compliance, encryption, identity, backup, and disaster-recovery controls using Terraform and Ansible.
Description
- Secure Oracle 19c databases on OEL/RHEL 8 and 9 systems operating in FIPS mode
- Manage Oracle authentication with Azure Entra ID, PIM, RBAC, and Linux VM SSO
- Configure TCPS, TDE, Azure Key Vault and Oracle Wallet integrations, plus encrypted RMAN backups
- Deploy security remediations through production Terraform and Ansible pipelines without manual production changes
- Perform DISA STIG and Oracle DB-SAT assessments, remediate findings, and document risk-based exceptions
- Maintain and test encrypted cross-region backup and recovery processes, including key escrow and re-keyed database cloning
- Handle tickets, submit merge requests, establish security baselines, and develop production infrastructure as code
- Coordinate operating-system and database security across backup, cloning, and disaster-recovery workflows
- Prepare compliance evidence for external assessors
Requirements
- At least 8 years of hands-on Oracle DBA or security engineering experience with Oracle 19c
- Practical experience delivering DISA STIG and Oracle DB-SAT remediations, including formal risk-based exception decisions
- Professional experience in FedRAMP, DoD IL, CMMC, or comparable regulated environments
- Production expertise with TDE, Oracle Wallet, TCPS certificate and trust-store administration, and encrypted RMAN backups using external key stores
- Strong knowledge of Oracle authentication through Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Blob Storage, managed disk encryption, and Azure PIM/RBAC
- Advanced Terraform and Ansible skills for environment provisioning and configuration management through CI/CD pipelines
- Experience administering OEL/RHEL 8 or 9 in FIPS mode
- Ability to lead technical architecture and security decisions across DBA, Platform, and DevOps teams without direct managerial authority
- Residence in the UK or EU and eligibility to contract within Europe
- Availability to begin within four weeks
- Preferred: Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Database Security Specialist, or Azure Security Engineer AZ-500 certification
- Preferred: OpenSCAP integration in CI/CD pipelines with continuous drift detection
- Preferred: Argo Workflows, Kubernetes-based CI/CD, or Helm chart experience
- Preferred: familiarity with FIPS 140-3 provider changes, Filebeat and Elastic deployments on FIPS hosts, or Oracle option licensing
