Description

  • Lead the software architecture team within Boeing’s AvionX Mission Systems Software organization
  • Oversee the design, development, testing, debugging, and maintenance of embedded software for integrated devices and systems
  • Ensure software complies with industry, customer, safety, and regulatory standards
  • Translate customer requirements into embedded software product architectures and designs
  • Provide guidance on embedded software for specialized hardware platforms
  • Advise teams on integrating embedded software with hardware components
  • Monitor and improve embedded software efficiency, reliability, and stability
  • Direct embedded software testing and defect resolution
  • Guide technology, tooling, framework, and regulatory decisions affecting software and hardware development
  • Define organizational approaches to software and hardware integration
  • Manage the performance and standards compliance of internal and supplier software teams
  • Provide technical direction for embedded software project management activities
  • Counsel management on embedded software engineering matters

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification
  • Eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance; U.S. government requirements include U.S. citizenship
  • U.S. Person status for export control compliance
  • At least five years leading a software development team through the complete software life cycle
  • At least five years designing software architectures for embedded systems
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills across multiple organizations
  • Practical knowledge of software architecture and design methods
  • Ability to develop software architectures and designs that satisfy requirements, characteristics, and constraints
  • Ability to independently resolve team challenges through creative application of engineering principles
  • Experience with real-time software domains, including architecture, requirements, interfaces, design, integration, and testing
  • Experience with flight management systems and/or civil navigation
  • Experience certifying software under DO-178C
  • Experience developing motion planning, estimation, and/or control software
  • Experience creating software or simulations with MATLAB and/or Simulink
  • Experience developing software or simulations in C++
  • Successful completion of the company’s conflict-of-interest assessment process
  • Completion of a technical assessment during selection
  • Compliance with U.S. export control requirements
