Electrical Engineering Technician (Contract)

Support Black & Veatch engineering projects with electrical drawings, CAD/BIM documentation, and technical deliverables. Check documentation and coordinate designs with project teams.

Description

  • Perform technical work for engineering teams under general supervision.
  • Prepare, revise, and maintain technical documents, drawings, and project deliverables.
  • Stay up to date on standards, systems, document control, departmental guidance, and company policies and procedures.
  • Use the BV Quality Program to help ensure deliverables are accurate and compliant.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and change management.
  • Assess and refine the methods, processes, and procedures used to complete deliverables.
  • Develop deliverables from a range of design inputs.
  • Complete basic calculations, including material quantity estimates and dimensional checks.
  • Coordinate deliverables across project groups to reduce conflicts and errors.
  • Address internal client needs while building an understanding of external clients’ interests and priorities.
  • Keep up with and share knowledge of current technologies and processes.
  • May offer technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineering technicians.

Requirements

  • At least two years of related work experience is typically required.
  • A diploma or certificate is preferred.
  • An associate degree in drafting or an engineering design-related technology is preferred.
  • Able to complete pre-employment onboarding checks, which may include criminal or civil background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle records searches, as required by applicable laws and regulations.
  • Intermediate understanding of engineering principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and design software, including CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling.
