Senior Electrical Engineer – Industrial Process and Agribusiness

Lead electrical engineering for industrial, process, and agribusiness projects at KFI Engineers, with a focus on power distribution and facility infrastructure. Deliver calculations, technical documentation, contractor coordination, client support, and business development contributions.

Description

  • Lead projects through completion while upholding strong technical and engineering standards
  • Manage client expectations and support consistently high customer satisfaction
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams
  • Contribute to business development through proposal preparation and meetings with prospective and existing clients
  • Design power distribution systems, including primary distribution, motor feeders, and motor starters or drives
  • Support general building power, HVAC, and lighting system design
  • Develop grounding electrode, emergency generator, and UPS system designs
  • Assess existing distribution systems and design additions for plant expansions and facility modifications
  • Complete voltage-drop and short-circuit calculations
  • Conduct arc-flash analysis using SKM or a comparable calculation platform
  • Produce engineering documents and equipment specifications within the contracted scope and applicable engineering principles
  • Coordinate deliverables across departments, project teams, and contractors
  • Help foster a collaborative team environment
  • Handle additional responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • At least eight years of electrical engineering experience after graduation
  • Professional Engineer certification or willingness to pursue it
  • Experience designing electrical systems for building projects
  • Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD
  • Broad electrical design expertise across multiple industries and processes
  • Thorough understanding of electrical, mechanical, civil, and structural construction practices
  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, NESC, and ANSI/IEEE
  • Experience designing infrastructure for manufacturing facilities
  • Leadership skills demonstrated through stakeholder influence, client relationship development, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to manage meetings effectively
  • Capacity to balance multiple priorities and adapt quickly to changing requirements, direction, and project demands
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with careful attention to detail
  • Proficiency with computers and business applications, including Microsoft Office
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 25%
  • Preferred experience in industrial and heavy-industrial markets
  • Preferred experience designing infrastructure for industrial facilities
  • Preferred experience designing power systems dominated by motor loads
  • Preferred experience designing electrical systems in hazardous areas, including explosive gas- and dust-rated spaces
  • Ability to work across construction-site terrain and lift or move field-testing equipment
