Senior Data Engineer, Analytics Lead - Remote

Lead the development of Azure data products for a federal agency, covering pipelines, data quality, modeling, Power BI, and production delivery. This senior role also coordinates technical reviews, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.

Description

  • Develop core components for three production data products serving a federal agency
  • Coordinate partner deliverables and complete technical reviews before acceptance
  • Own data quality through documented deduplication, reconciliation, and control processes
  • Create dependable ingestion and transformation pipelines for legacy, system-of-record, and multi-format contractor data
  • Establish traceable mappings from source systems to target structures
  • Design Data Vault 2.0 and Gold-tier models for required analytics and independent agency analysis
  • Build integrated semantic models and provide support for Microsoft Power BI
  • Improve system performance while delivering production-ready code
  • Produce data dictionaries, pipeline specifications, runbooks, and knowledge-transfer documentation
  • Support long-term product understandability and maintainability after cutover
  • Work with developers, engineers, data scientists, architects, strategists, and machine learning engineers
  • Contribute to the firm's capabilities, tools, and business lines

Requirements

  • At least eight years of data engineering or analytics engineering experience, including three or more years with Azure Databricks or a comparable lakehouse platform
  • Advanced SQL skills and proficiency in Python or PySpark
  • Experience with Delta Lake, ETL, ELT, orchestration, schema design, data quality, and performance tuning
  • Hands-on experience with Data Vault 2.0, dimensional modeling, semantic models, and production analytics
  • Working knowledge of Unity Catalog, source control, automated deployment, environment promotion, and CI/CD
  • Ability to support Microsoft Power BI datasets and dashboards
  • Experience collaborating with machine learning engineers on feature pipelines and model deployment
  • Strong technical writing skills, including maintaining diagrams, mappings, specifications, and runbooks
  • United States citizenship
  • Dual citizens and green card holders are prohibited under the contract terms
  • Ability to meet required suitability, security, and access conditions
  • Preferred: Experience with a federal system accredited at Impact Level 5 (IL-5) or higher
  • Preferred: Databricks Data Engineer, Azure Data Engineer, or another relevant cloud certification
  • Preferred: Experience with ServiceNow data, federal audit data, government financial data, or controlled federal environments
  • Preferred: Experience moving solutions between Azure environments with infrastructure as code and Databricks Asset Bundles
