Remote Web Developer for Application Support and Systems Testing at Aptive Resources

Build and support Aptive Resources’ federal healthcare web applications and SQL Server systems remotely in the United States. The role combines application development, testing, debugging, production troubleshooting, and incremental enhancement of VHA HSR and ORD applications.

Description

  • Develop and enhance web applications that support HSR and ORD
  • Connect applications with Microsoft SQL Server databases
  • Produce maintainable, testable application code
  • Create and update SQL queries and stored procedures
  • Execute functional, integration, regression, and performance-focused testing
  • Validate application fixes and enhancements before release
  • Investigate, document, and resolve software defects
  • Diagnose web, database, and integration problems
  • Coordinate application deployments and implementations
  • Track and address alerts, reported issues, and production incidents
  • Resolve problems introduced by changes elsewhere in the IT environment
  • Partner with users and teammates to improve application navigation, functionality, and user experience
  • Keep documentation current for application behavior, changes, tests, and resolutions
  • Explain technical issues and solutions to non-technical stakeholders
  • Handle rapid-turnaround requests, ad hoc work, and evolving HSR/ORD needs

Requirements

  • Four to five years of SQL database administration and programming experience
  • Background developing and maintaining database-driven web applications
  • Experience writing SQL queries and stored procedures
  • Proven ability to test and debug applications
  • Experience troubleshooting applications in production
  • Understanding of web application security, including cross-site scripting prevention and remediation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Clear communication skills for collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • ColdFusion or CFML application development experience is preferred
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, XML, SQL, and AJAX is preferred
  • ColdFusion Server administration experience is preferred
  • Experience with web applications backed by SQL Server is preferred
  • Experience with structured software or system testing and defect resolution is preferred
  • Experience maintaining legacy applications while delivering incremental improvements is preferred
  • Experience in VA/VHA, federal health, healthcare research, or other federal IT environments is preferred
