IT Director, Global Trade Compliance – Texas Remote

Lead the technology strategy, systems, and compliance workflows supporting global trade at BAE Systems. Own export-control platforms, modernization initiatives, and cross-functional delivery for a regulated enterprise environment.

Description

  • Set and communicate the long-term technology vision and roadmap for Global Trade Compliance systems and data
  • Connect technology investments with business objectives, Consent Agreement commitments, data governance standards, and requirements such as ITAR, EAR, DFARS, CMMC, and global trade modernization
  • Own the product direction for Global Trade systems, including export management platforms, Appian authorization workflows, and supporting data pipelines
  • Guide a cross-functional product team across analysis, configuration, testing, production support, integrations, and ongoing improvement
  • Maintain dependable operations, healthy services, SLA performance, and prompt incident resolution
  • Uphold enterprise policies, cybersecurity controls, classification standards, and data-handling procedures for export-controlled information
  • Work with BRMs, Legal, Global Trade leaders, and subject-matter experts to frame problems, refine requirements, and sequence priorities
  • Advance AI, automation, and analytics across the Global Trade value stream
  • Oversee strategic vendor relationships, contract execution, escalations, and delivery-quality standards
  • Lead escalation handling, root-cause analysis, and service-resilience improvements
  • Establish KPIs, analytics, dashboards, and readiness reporting for leadership
  • Coordinate with executives and partners across Legal, Compliance, Cybersecurity, Architecture, Enterprise Applications, and Integration Services

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 12 years of progressive IT leadership experience spanning enterprise systems, service ownership, application lifecycle management, or compliance technology
  • Experience supporting legal, export, or compliance platforms, including export management systems or comparable tools
  • Track record of delivering technology plans that support export and compliance operations
  • Strong leadership, communication, facilitation, and negotiation capabilities
  • Ability to convert business needs into technical strategies and practical roadmaps
  • Success influencing matrixed organizations and developing trusted stakeholder relationships
  • Analytical judgment that balances long-term direction with immediate operational demands
  • Practical, decisive approach to problem solving
  • Working knowledge of modern software development, program management, and technical engineering environments
  • Extensive experience leading enterprise system sustainment and application lifecycle management
  • Background in Global Trade, export-control platforms, or regulated data workflows
  • Ability to explain technical and non-technical topics clearly to executive audiences
  • Experience building teams, developing talent, and promoting a culture of excellence
