Regional Underwriting Manager, Cyber Liability — California Remote

Lead cyber liability underwriting strategy, risk decisions, and performance as Regional Underwriting Manager at Converge Insurance. Manage underwriters and loss control representatives while advancing business objectives and underwriting results.

Description

  • Lead underwriting quality and tactical direction for the Cyber Liability lines of business
  • Develop and execute strategic and operational objectives for Cyber Liability in line with company plans
  • Delegate underwriting authority within established parameters
  • Review and approve underwriting referrals
  • Implement actions that improve underwriting performance and operational efficiency
  • Evaluate risk tolerance, market conditions, and emerging risks
  • Perform internal peer reviews to confirm adherence to corporate guidelines and industry best practices
  • Act as the underwriting liaison with carrier partners, including reinsurers
  • Pursue new underwriting opportunities and track marketplace, competitor, and industry developments
  • Partner with the Senior Leadership Team to develop and execute business and talent strategies
  • Deliver leadership-team KPIs and maintain communication and alignment around team and organizational goals
  • Lead a team of underwriters and loss control representatives
  • Interview, hire, train, assign, supervise, evaluate, recognize, and discipline employees
  • Handle complaints and resolve issues

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Master’s degree in a related field preferred
  • Typically at least 15 years of relevant professional experience
  • At least 10 years of management experience
  • CPCU designation preferred
  • Expert knowledge of underwriting practices and the insurance sector
  • Broad understanding of critical issues in related disciplines
  • Exceptional communication skills for building consensus across teams and areas of influence
  • Proven leadership and people-management skills grounded in integrity and professionalism
  • Ability to achieve results by identifying and resolving significant issues within the role’s scope
  • Senior-level knowledge of the insurance industry, including its products and services
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other business software
  • Ability to remain seated at a desk and work at a computer for extended periods
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds
