Principal Aeronautical Engineer, Vehicle Structures Integration – Melbourne, FL

Lead Vehicle Structures integration initiatives at Northrop Grumman, supporting aerospace processes, tools, training, and technical priorities. Collaborate across Aeronautics Systems disciplines and distributed sites to advance technical excellence and workforce capabilities.

Description

  • Shape the strategic direction, operations, and technical priorities for Vehicle Structures
  • Lead process, tool, and training initiatives spanning Design, Structural Analysis, Material & Process, Liaison, and Standard Parts
  • Advance technical excellence and workforce capabilities
  • Work with Northrop Grumman Fellows on emerging technologies and future workforce development
  • Create and maintain Vehicle Structures Principles and Operating Practices (PrOP)
  • Create and maintain Process Asset Library (PAL) manuals and Nimbus Process Models
  • Partner with program execution teams to uphold technical excellence and compliance
  • Coordinate with Vehicle Structures Discipline Process Technical Owners
  • Work with Vehicle Engineering discipline leads and integrators across the Center of Technical Excellence

Requirements

  • Engineer Aeronautical level requires a bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience, or a master’s degree in a STEM discipline and no related engineering experience
  • Principal Engineer Aeronautical level requires a bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience, a master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience, or a STEM PhD and 1 year of related engineering experience
  • Experience executing Vehicle Structures programs within an integrated product team environment
  • Technical experience in Design, Structural Analysis, Material & Process, Liaison, or Standard Parts
  • Experience applying Vehicle Structures methods, tools, standards, and processes
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary and geographically distributed teams
  • Experience with or exposure to digital design initiatives and solutions
  • Active DoD Secret or higher clearance with a recent required background investigation or enrollment in Continuous Evaluation
  • Eligibility for Top Secret/SCI clearance
  • Ability to obtain and retain Special Program Access (PAR)
  • Willingness to travel as needed, approximately 25%
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a STEM discipline
  • Preferred: Current Special Program Access (PAR)
  • Preferred: Experience with Microsoft 365 Lists/Power Automate, Confluence, JIRA, NX, Teamcenter (CPLM) with Active Workspace, Microsoft 365, and SharePoint
  • Preferred: Knowledge of engineering design and analysis software systems
  • Preferred: Experience leading process optimization
