Legal Director, Commercial EMEA

Lead commercial legal strategy across Dentsply Sirona’s EMEA dental products business. Advise regional leaders, negotiate complex agreements, and manage cross-border legal matters.

Description

  • Set the EMEA commercial legal agenda and act as the principal legal adviser to regional leadership.
  • Advise EMEA leaders on business strategy and major commercial and operational decisions.
  • Provide legal guidance to EMEA leadership and country teams.
  • Support business growth and transformation, including go-to-market and distribution models, market entry, product launches, pricing, promotions, and strategic accounts.
  • Lead legal support for significant regional agreements covering distribution and dealers, public tenders, strategic accounts, services, software and digital solutions, and partnerships with dental professionals and institutions.
  • Identify and evaluate significant legal risks across EMEA.
  • Work with teams across Regulatory, Compliance and Ethics, Privacy, Intellectual Property, Operations Legal, Employment, Tax, and Corporate Legal.
  • Oversee major EMEA commercial disputes and administrative matters, including strategy, external counsel, financial exposure, and reporting.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the geographically distributed EMEA legal team.
  • Handle a high volume of fast-moving matters while maintaining quality, responsiveness, and appropriate escalation.
  • Bring EMEA perspectives to global Commercial Legal priorities and shared standards.
  • Advise Procurement and business teams on purchasing, supply, and service agreements, including drafting, negotiation, and contractual risks.
  • Independently evaluate complex legal, commercial, and operational risks.
  • Offer recommendations, practical alternatives, and constructive challenge; determine when specialist advice or escalation is needed.

Requirements

  • Hold a law degree and be qualified to practice in an EMEA jurisdiction or have equivalent professional standing.
  • Bring at least 15 years of relevant legal experience, including substantial in-house work and responsibility across multiple EMEA countries.
  • Have experience leading lawyers and managing complex cross-border legal work.
  • Have experience developing talent and working effectively across cultures, time zones, and reporting lines.
  • Demonstrate a strong record advising international sales organizations and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
  • Be able to explain legal issues and risks in business terms, offer practical options, and challenge constructively.
  • Familiarity with digital products, distribution networks, public procurement, and engagement with healthcare professionals is valuable.
  • Experience in medical devices, healthcare, or another regulated EMEA business is preferred.
  • Have fluent professional English.
  • German proficiency is highly valued.
  • Additional EMEA language skills are an advantage.
  • Be eligible to work in the country where the position is based.
