Lead IT Infrastructure Engineer – Windows, Active Directory & VMware (Portugal Remote)

Lead infrastructure operations across Windows, Linux, virtualization, and Active Directory environments. Support PSI CRO’s global pharmaceutical clinical-trial systems from Portugal in a remote role.

Description

  • Design, deploy, maintain, and continually enhance infrastructure supporting PSI’s worldwide operations
  • Build, operate, and improve Windows and Linux server environments
  • Administer virtualization, storage, and backup platforms
  • Manage Windows Active Directory and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
  • Support enterprise applications and services running on Windows and Linux, including email and business systems
  • Operate infrastructure support services such as monitoring, patching, configuration management, and access control
  • Schedule and deliver operating system patches and infrastructure upgrades under company policies
  • Lead small and mid-sized infrastructure projects while contributing to larger programs
  • Qualify, validate, troubleshoot, and optimize infrastructure systems for performance
  • Keep infrastructure asset records, warranty details, and related service information accurate
  • Coordinate infrastructure suppliers, including deliveries, contracts, and vendor activities
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, and system standards
  • Partner with Network & Connectivity and Cloud & Modern Workplace teams on cross-functional initiatives

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English
  • Substantial practical experience with Windows Server and Active Directory
  • Hands-on knowledge of virtualization technologies
  • Experience administering Windows and/or Linux servers
  • Background with enterprise infrastructure services, including PKI and email/MTA technologies
  • Practical knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions
  • Experience planning, delivering, and managing infrastructure projects
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring, patching, and configuration management
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for complex infrastructure issues, alongside thorough technical documentation practices
  • Experience with VMware, Proxmox, or Hyper-V
  • Experience using Microsoft Azure in hybrid infrastructure environments
  • Experience with Azure Arc and Azure Update Manager
  • Experience with Zabbix or comparable infrastructure monitoring tools
  • Experience with PowerShell or another scripting language and infrastructure automation
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange, Sendmail, or Postfix
  • Experience with Veeam or comparable backup platforms
  • Familiarity with ITIL, change management, qualification, and validation processes
  • Relevant certifications in Microsoft, virtualization, Linux, or other infrastructure technologies
