Junior Software Engineer, AI Agent Platform — Canada Remote

Develop real-time voice AI and LLM systems for Motorola Solutions’ emergency-response products. Build telephony, backend, streaming, and human-in-the-loop capabilities.

Description

  • Develop real-time voice AI capabilities for emergency-response workflows
  • Design and operate LLM-powered systems that support 911 telecommunicators
  • Deliver features across backend services, AI pipelines, frontend interfaces, and internal tools
  • Build low-latency audio processing, streaming, telephony integration, and human-in-the-loop AI workflows
  • Bring speech models, LLMs, and emerging AI technologies into production systems
  • Establish disciplined practices for testing, code review, observability, and security
  • Strengthen evaluation, testing, and observability for AI-assisted systems
  • Join on-call coverage, including supported shadow rotations
  • Contribute to blameless post-incident reviews
  • Investigate systems, ask thoughtful questions, and offer fresh perspectives
  • Partner with experienced engineers across real-time AI pipelines, telephony, backend infrastructure, and product surfaces
  • Help shape architecture, develop core product features, and advance AI-agent engineering practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with LLMs, AI agents, AI pipelines, retrieval-augmented generation, evaluations, or prompt test harnesses
  • Strong engineering fundamentals, curiosity, learning agility, and problem-solving skills
  • Coursework, internships, research, and personal projects are considered relevant experience
  • Exposure to speech-to-text, text-to-speech, voice activity detection, endpointing, interruption handling, noise filtering, diarization, or audio streaming
  • Exposure to telephony and voice infrastructure such as PSTN, SIP trunking, PBX, and call routing
  • Exposure to WebRTC, WebSockets, RTP/SRTP, media streaming, or low-latency audio transport
  • Programming experience in Elixir, Go, Python, Rust, or similar languages
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL or relational data modeling
  • Exposure to AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud infrastructure
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or comparable deployment environments
  • Under 10% travel and legal eligibility to work in the applicable Canadian location.
