Junior iOS Software Engineer (Onsite)

Build high-performance iOS camera experiences at Snap using Objective-C and related mobile technologies. The role focuses on mobile optimization, scalable product development, and production-quality engineering.

Description

  • Develop and improve high-performance mobile applications
  • Create reliable products with smooth, consistent operation
  • Architect, design, and implement thoroughly tested Objective-C software for Snapchat camera experiences
  • Plan, build, and release new product features
  • Assess engineering tradeoffs and their impact
  • Partner with Design on user interface and infrastructure practices
  • Review code to uphold engineering quality
  • Apply AI tools and rapid engineering practices to deliver scalable services while preserving correctness, security, and production readiness

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline, such as computer science, or have equivalent practical experience
  • Have at least two years of post-bachelor’s software development experience, or a master’s degree in a technical field with at least one year of postgraduate development experience, or a relevant technical PhD
  • Demonstrate experience developing iOS applications
  • Understand the Objective-C runtime and the processes operating beneath the application layer
  • Know operating-system internals, compilers, and optimization for low-power mobile systems
  • Apply multithreading and iOS performance-optimization techniques effectively
  • Possess strong computer science fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and problem solving
  • Understand software design patterns and established iOS development practices
  • Use AI tools to accelerate development while critically reviewing generated code for architectural soundness, performance issues, and security vulnerabilities
  • Adapt quickly to evolving AI systems and development tools
  • Preferred: Experience with Objective-C and iOS development
  • Preferred: Experience with Swift
  • Preferred: Experience with C or C++
  • Preferred: Experience with OpenGL or Metal
