Alumni Engagement Manager - Hybrid Vermont

Lead alumni engagement for The DREAM Program, a youth mentoring and enrichment nonprofit. Oversee alumni programs, fundraising, events, communications, and donor data management.

Description

  • Create and execute an alumni engagement plan with defined annual objectives
  • Develop relationships with DREAM alumni across programs, regions, and generations
  • Expand opportunities for alumni to serve as volunteers, mentors, speakers, ambassadors, advisors, and donors
  • Recognize and support alumni leaders who can help grow the DREAM alumni community
  • Assess opportunities for regional alumni gatherings, committees, and networks where participation is strong
  • Build strategies that increase alumni giving and foster sustained philanthropic engagement
  • Manage relationships with a portfolio of alumni donors and prospective supporters
  • Coordinate alumni fundraising campaigns, appeals, and giving programs
  • Develop communications and stewardship activities that demonstrate the impact of alumni support
  • Coordinate with the development team to align alumni engagement with DREAM fundraising priorities
  • Organize alumni events such as regional gatherings, networking programs, reunions, service projects, and virtual activities
  • Oversee event marketing, registration, logistics, budgets, and post-event follow-up
  • Develop alumni communications, including newsletters, invitations, organizational updates, and fundraising appeals
  • Gather and publish alumni stories, achievements, and contributions to their communities
  • Work with the communications team to create alumni content for email, social media, and the website
  • Keep alumni information accurate in DREAM donor and relationship-management databases
  • Conduct outreach and research to refresh contact details and reconnect with alumni
  • Establish processes for documenting participant information as they move from DREAM programs into the alumni community
  • Monitor alumni participation, volunteering, communications, and giving activity
  • Analyze engagement data to assess outcomes and inform future plans
  • Coordinate alumni initiatives with development, communications, program, data, and regional teams
  • Help establish consistent ways for participants to stay involved after completing DREAM programs
  • Identify alumni suited for employment, board, advisory, partnership, and storytelling opportunities
  • Represent DREAM at alumni, fundraising, and community events

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable professional experience
  • One to five years of experience in alumni relations, fundraising, development, communications, events, community engagement, or a related discipline
  • Proven ability to build relationships with people from varied backgrounds
  • Background in fundraising, donor stewardship, volunteer engagement, or community-building programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience taking events or programs from initial planning through delivery
  • Working knowledge of donor databases, CRM systems, email tools, spreadsheets, and basic reporting applications
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing projects through completion
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in cross-functional teams
  • Nonprofit, mentoring, education, or youth-service experience preferred
  • Personal experience as a DREAM alum or participant in a comparable youth-development program valued
  • Availability for occasional evening or weekend work and travel to DREAM regions
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion
