Junior DevOps Engineer, Imagen Platform (Hybrid)

Join Thomson Reuters as a Junior DevOps Engineer supporting deployment and automation for Imagen, a cloud media asset platform used by news and sports organizations. The role covers partner onboarding, integrations, incident response, and media migrations.

Description

  • Deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain Imagen installations across multiple cloud environments
  • Diagnose problems spanning application, database, storage, networking, and infrastructure layers
  • Onboard Reuters content partners by setting up ingest pipelines and creating and testing XSLT metadata mappings
  • Verify that partner content is delivered correctly to Reuters Connect
  • Connect customer Imagen systems with Reuters Connect through platform settings, API credentials, storage, workflows, and delivery profiles
  • Maintain and enhance Terraform infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines for serverless ingest functions
  • Develop automation for watch folders, event-driven ingest pipelines, customer and third-party API connections, and repetitive manual tasks
  • Use logs, metrics, and API responses to investigate failed ingests and platform incidents
  • Resolve incidents and incorporate fixes into code or documentation
  • Plan and execute media migrations between platforms and storage providers
  • Assist with decommissioning legacy systems
  • Record work and learning in the internal wiki and code repositories
  • Collaborate with Reuters content partner managers and internal stakeholders to clarify requests, agree requirements, and share updates

Requirements

  • Suitable for a junior candidate with practical experience from a placement, apprenticeship, first technical role, degree, or substantial self-directed projects
  • Working knowledge of AWS or Azure, with readiness to learn the other major public cloud
  • Scripting experience in PowerShell and/or Python, with willingness to develop proficiency in both
  • Familiarity with SQL and relational databases such as MySQL or MariaDB
  • Experience using Git for version control, including branching and pull-request review
  • Comfort working with XML and JSON
  • Experience working with REST APIs
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
  • Clear written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Good organisation and the ability to manage multiple work items
  • Preferred experience includes Terraform, CI/CD, GitHub Actions, XSLT, XPath, Windows Server, IIS, Linux, AWS EC2, S3, Lambda, SQS, IAM, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, DNS, TLS, certificates, firewalls, VPNs, load balancing, Kubernetes, EKS, AKS, Apache, monitoring, alerting, log analysis, and video or media technology
  • Previous media-industry experience is not required
