Game Programmer (Unity/C#) at Kabam — 1-Year Contract, Montreal Hybrid

Build gameplay systems, user interfaces, and creative tools for Kabam’s multiplayer games. Develop Unity and C# solutions that streamline artist and designer workflows.

Description

  • Develop, test, and maintain code according to established standards and best practices
  • Work collaboratively, contribute to code reviews, and follow team development processes
  • Investigate, debug, and resolve software defects
  • Keep code and project documentation clear, accurate, and concise
  • Strengthen technical capabilities through continuous learning and improvement
  • Share progress, risks, challenges, and updates with teammates and stakeholders
  • Organize work effectively to meet project milestones and deadlines
  • Seek guidance while supporting team development through knowledge sharing
  • Create clean, efficient, reusable code for gameplay features and mechanics
  • Develop and maintain tools that enhance artist and designer workflows
  • Connect tools with established content-creation pipelines and processes
  • Create flexible screens, widgets, and other user-interface components
  • Assess feature designs and advise on implementation costs and alternatives
  • Partner with producers, artists, designers, and programmers in an agile team environment
  • Develop and support workflow tools for artists, designers, and programmers

Requirements

  • At least six years of software development experience, preferably in the gaming industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
  • Expert-level proficiency in C#
  • Experience shipping multiple online titles for console, PC, or mobile platforms
  • Professional experience with several game engines or demonstrated ability to learn new ones quickly
  • Ability to produce clean, straightforward, well-documented code from design specifications
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-moving team
  • Strong experience with source-control systems such as Git or Perforce
  • Experience developing applications for Android or iOS
  • Current understanding of mobile gaming trends
  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical colleagues
  • Experience with Agile, Kanban, or comparable project-management methods
  • French and English proficiency is an advantage
  • Gameplay engineering experience spanning controls, abilities, AI, RPG, multiplayer, online, and networking systems
  • Knowledge of UI engineering best practices for console, PC, or mobile platforms
  • Strong proficiency in Unity3D, C#, and Unity GUI
  • Backend experience with Node.js, NoSQL databases—preferably MongoDB—and Google Cloud is an advantage
  • Rendering or graphics experience with Unity shader languages and APIs such as OpenGL, DirectX, Metal, or Vulkan is an advantage
